We visited the dorms again this week and played that same piano, this time almost ten years older. There’s something truly magical about being back in those dorms after all these years. OSAT 2011 Dates October 15-16: South County October 22-23: North County October 29-30: Encore Weekend Countywide The Open Studios Art Tour is the largest visual art event in SLO County, and ARTS Obispo’s biggest annual fundraiser. The self-guided tour takes place each year over three weekends in October and features work from several hundred artists throughout SLO County. Art in a huge variety of media and styles is displayed and sold by artists directly in their homes & studios, and many artists have live demos and works in progress, to see the art being created and get a feel for the process from concept to completion.Visit the Online Visual Artist Directory to view artists images now! Tour visitors look through our full-color catalog featuring images of participating artists’ work, their contact information and maps to their studios. There is also a small works show and Digital Preview Exhibition at ARTS Space Obispo to view more of an artist’s work. The SLO County Band has been playing continuously for over 130 years. Records show that it was formally organized in 1881, but the existence of the band was mentioned in newspapers as early as 1874, when its ancestor, the San Luis Obispo Military Band, was founded. Since then, it has been affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and Cuesta College.
