A while back a bunch of CNN ireporters visited avatar AM Radio’s sim called ‘The Far Away’ which is a beautiful wheat field created in SL and a place of tranquillity. It’s well worth a visit. But another of AM’s sites, at IDIA Laboratories, is very interactive indeed, you can do a bit of graffiti and it’s all part of the artwork. Fellow writer Hibiscus Hastings had visited one of AM’s sites and spray painted a wall, so I thought I would have a go at spray painting the side of the railway carriage at this IDIA location.

I’ve been making these wontons since the late 80’s — minus the big hair. They’re a big hit with friends and family, especially at parties.

I love to smoke fish! I’ve smoked salmon for many, many years. Until last year when I attended a cooking demo by Food Network host, Alton Brown. He smoked rainbow trout in an Army surplus box and I knew this would be my new method to smoke fish!

Eyed- maxed , naturally three- dimensionalized (is that a word?) and in all the colors your imagination can color it, this giant bronze sculpture based on Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” sits in New York’s Central Park as a permanent tea party. The work by Jose de Creeft , has Alice sitting on a giant mushroom, surrounded by the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, Dinah and the bashful doormouse. The design is based on the illustrations in the book’s first edition. Unveiled in 1959 it billed as “one of the most beloved sights in Central Park”. With the release of Tim Burton’s movie, Alice is back in town. Here it is in black and white

As in many other cities around the nation, hundreds of New York City students took part in a mass protest last night, March 4th in Manhattan. But this demonstration was about the way they get to their schools Part of a larger protest by New York City transit workers, community activists and general public, these students from both public and private schools protested against the possible elimination of discounted fares to ride the city’s subways and buses. Inside Chelsea’s Fashion Institute of Techonogy public hearings were being held by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority about the agency’s doomsday budget gap plan and the possible elimination of bus lines, reduction of subway services, closure of manned station booths and the hot issue of discounted student Metro Cards. NYC students from private and public schools are issued a reduced fare pass to ride subways and buses throughout the system

California’s Polar Plunge at Zuma beach might not seem to be a “Polar experience” but for Southern Californians, it did happen to be on a cold day! It rained, hailed and tsunami advisories were in affect. That didn’t stop a group of people from taking the Plunge to raise money for the Special Olympics. Teams from UCLA and USC all joined in the fun. Miss Malibu and Miss Teen Malibu were there to count down and cheer the teams on. Cold, but it is Southern California; the sun broke through and everyone had a good time! Law enforcement officers partner with special olympics, and run the Law Enforcement Torch Run. They help with many fund raisers, including this Polar Plunge and Tip a Cop. Tip a Cop is where Law enforcement officers assist with waiting tables at a restaurant and collect “Tip” donations for the special olympics
