Many people killed in multiple bomb blast in Nigeria’s capital,Abuja. A suicide bomber in a Toyota Prado SUV drove into the THISDAY NEWSPAPER headquarters in Jabi, Abuja. The blast which occurred at about 11:08am, this morning left a part of the building in ruins, while nearby building had their windows shattered. In a twist of event, just about 50mins after the first blast, another one occurred in the LEADERSHIP NEWSPAPERS, thereby causing a little confusion among rescue workers who were still fighting hard to rescue victims of the first blast at THISDAY NEWPAPERS.
It was 100 years ago come this April 14, in 1912. The luxury ship RMS Titanic that was said to be ‘unsinkable’ hit an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southhampton, England to New York City. She then sank with over 2,000 souls on board.

Over 100 residents in Sulaimani, Iraq participated in Earth Hour tonight from 8:30-9:30pm. A number of large buildings in the city turned off their external lights for the hour in solidarity with the Earth Hour movement, which is aimed at reducing the world’s CO2 production. After 6 local buildings turned off their lights, a crowd of roughly 100 citizens gathered in Azadi Park and watched a presentation about the importance of reducing our carbon usage. Amanj Saeed was one of the main event organizers.

My brother and I are here in Malaga, Spain for a stop in our trip through europe, and just happened to be planning on travelling to Madrid today! Turns out that the trains are shut down except for a couple that are going through today but are far too expensive. Walking through the streets is a nightmare and every now and then you can hear firecrackers going off, and see people chaining ladders to light posts. Luckily our hostel here is letting us stay another night, and being in Madrid right now seems like a bad idea. So far here everything is looking very peaceful, but we know it can turn bad very fast. This is a picture of the general strike in Sevilla, Spain. Almost everything is shut down, busses are running at minimum capacity, light rail has been shut down, and most stores have locked there store fronts. It is a peaceful protest so far.
I don’t want to offer my point of view on this question here but I will say that I have enjoyed hearing other people’s answers over the last couple days. As an amateur photographer in Washington, DC this is like Christmas for me. So many passionate people with different points of view make for interesting photos. I haven’t seen many protests/rallies where opposing sides are so close together. It made for even more dramatic displays of emotion.

Roughly 20,000 people gathered yesterday at the National Mall in Washington D.C. for the Reason Rally, the largest secular gathering in history. The rally aimed to unite those with similar beliefs and show the American public that the number of people who refuse a belief in god is growing. The event brought together a mix of white and black, young and old, Asian and Hispanic, religious and non-religious.
I made this cake at Betty Cakes in Dade City, FL for the premier of the Hunger Games. I think Peeta would’ve been proud!
