An outraged crowd protested in front of the Hump Restaurant in Santa Monica, California today.   Whale Meat  has been part of the restaurants delicacies.  The Oscar winning makers of “The Cove”  helped shine light on the whale meat smuggling operation that was occurring at the Hump. The crew from The Cove stayed true to their beliefs. A sting operation went into play

Rove: Consequences to Courage

Rove: Consequences to Courage

Bush’s Brain has dropped a book, all 608 pages worth. At two and a half pounds, that’s quite the pile. In it, his good friend [and most notable client] George Bush is depicted in glowing terms, more so, as Rove, holding himself up for comparison, willingly (read- deceptively) concedes he’s the lesser man

View from a granite mountain.

The formation of Granite Peak began 2 billion years ago with the violent fusion through intense heat of sand into a single chunk of quartzite. Since then, the surrounding plains have slowly eroded away while the incredibly hard quartzite, resisting this erosion, remained and rose higher and higher over the surrounding area. Today, Granite Peak, called a “monadnock” by geologists, is the second highest point in Wisconsin and, at 700 feet above the surrounding plain, is the tallest mountain in Wisconsin.

FDNY Quickly Respond to Mid-Town Theater Fire

FDNY Quickly Respond to Mid-Town Theater Fire

A fire broke out Thursday afternoon on the fourth floor of the St. James Theatre in mid-town Manhattan.  The FDNY were quick to respond and evacuate the building.  Initially, it had been reported that an elevator shaft in the building had caught fire with someone trapped inside it.  However, a firefighter at the scene told me that there was no one in the elevator and no one was hurt.  The cause of fire is being investigated. Over a half-dozen fire trucks and emergency response vehicles crowded the busy mid-town street.  At least a couple of hundred onlookers watched as firefighters ran ladders up to the roof of the building and took control of the situation. Mario Espinoza, of Laredo, Texas, was walking through Times Square when the incident occurred.  He told me he smelled smoke shortly before the firefighters arrived.  He was impressed with how quickly and professionally the FDNY handled the situation.  “Ive never seen so many fire engines.”  “It’s a crazy city,” he said, and then he asked me to take his picture next to a NDNY fire truck. Sardana, a Spanish kind of Tai Chi

Sardana, a Spanish kind of Tai Chi

A large group of elderly people gathered in a square in the beautiful city of Barcelona (Spain) to show the public that an ancient dance similar to “tai chi” helps them to keep in shape in a relaxing way and using a melodic musical mantra (mens sana in corpore sano). In the second video of this ireport we can see how this great multitude of people makes a big circle to accumulate more “qi” and expand this energy chain for the welfare of body and mind. The Sardana is the name of this ancient dance.

Creative Graffiti In SL

Creative Graffiti In SL

A while back a bunch of CNN ireporters visited avatar AM Radio’s sim called ‘The Far Away’ which is a beautiful wheat field created in SL and a place of tranquillity. It’s well worth a visit.  But another of AM’s sites, at IDIA Laboratories, is very interactive indeed, you can do a bit of graffiti and it’s all part of the artwork.  Fellow writer Hibiscus Hastings had visited one of AM’s sites and spray painted a wall, so I thought I would have a go at spray painting the side of the railway carriage at this IDIA location.

The signature dish I am presenting is Arroz Con Pollo. I had fun making  it. It came out extremely well, as my staunchest critic, my wife, had  two full plates.

Smokin Hot Rainbow Trout

Smokin Hot Rainbow Trout

I love to smoke fish!  I’ve smoked salmon for many, many years.  Until last year when I attended a cooking demo by Food Network host, Alton Brown.  He smoked rainbow trout in an Army surplus box and I knew this would be my new method to smoke fish!

Alice in (Central Park) Wonderland

Alice in (Central Park) Wonderland

Eyed- maxed , naturally three- dimensionalized (is that a word?) and in all the colors your imagination can color it, this giant bronze sculpture based on Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” sits in New York’s Central Park as a permanent tea party. The work by Jose de Creeft , has Alice sitting on a giant mushroom, surrounded by the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, the Cheshire Cat, the White Rabbit, Dinah and the bashful doormouse. The design  is based on the illustrations in the book’s first edition. Unveiled in 1959 it billed as “one of the most beloved sights in Central Park”. With the release of Tim Burton’s movie, Alice is back in town. Here it is in black and white
