Fox Foundation , donating 20 percent of proceeds from the sales of four items to the cause. The beloved doll tossed her hat into the ring on Thursday (for the fifth time), doing so in a stylish printed pink skirt suit created by designer Chris Benz. Inspired in part by a dress Benz made for First Lady Michelle Obama , Barbie’s suit features a cummerbund, a color-coordinated campaign button and red, white and blue trim. “It’s a classic little Jackie O kind of suit,” Benz told reporters at a press conference in New York Thursday morning. “[It's] fun and flirty and exactly what you’d expect from Barbie for her campaign.” Benz, who grew up rearranging the outfits on his aunts’ Barbie dolls, also gave the candidate her most functional shoes yet: pink wedges that allow her to stand without any help. “That’s the real special thing,” he said

Courtesy DKMS Leighton Meester ‘s latest endeavor would make Blair Waldorf proud: the actress and designer Vera Wang teamed up with DKMS , the world’s largest bone marrow donor center, to encourage people to register as donors by getting swabbed through the “Share the Love” campaign. In conjunction with the donor drive, shoppers who make a $78 Vera Wang Lovestruck fragrance purchase at Macy’s will receive a T-shirt promoting the cause. Meester, the face of Lovestruck , also partnered with 19-year-old blood cancer survivor Kerri Mullen to create a public service announcement on behalf of DKMS (see some behind-the-scenes footage below). Mullen, a New Jersey native, was diagnosed with leukemia in March 2008, but was saved by a bone marrow donor; now, she’s happily off at college, majoring in liberal arts

In the latest of Rent the Runway’s “Closet Close-Ups” videos , Anna Sui recalls the moment she first knew she wanted to design. “When I was about four years old, I went to New York with my parents,” she tells Rent the Runway fashion director Lucy Sykes. “We were driving around, and I told them, ‘When I grow up I’m going to be a fashion designer and live in New York.’” Wish granted! According to the site, Rodarte is contributing at least one piece to the film, a “charming chapeau” (above) that “could indeed be gracing a head of a Capitol socialite at this year’s Opening Ceremonies.” The tulle-and-knit hat is made of mohair, alpaca and “other various wools” — all (fictionally) courtesy of District 11, the nation of Panem’s agricultural center

The Italian designer’s collection of dresses, pants, blouses and knitwear will hit Macy’s stores and macys.com on April 17. “The collection I created is fresh and bright, featuring light summer clothing that evokes the spirit of my beautiful country and is at the same time true to my style,” Ferretti said in a statement

With a little finessing, a veil and a bouquet, we could easily see some of the haute couture gowns walking down an aisle. Though she wasn’t there, we do wonder: was Anne Hathaway paying attention? Olivier Douliery/ABACA In only five years, Jason Wu has dressed a First Lady , been inducted into the CFDA and debuted a collection for Target , but that doesn’t mean he’s used to the lifestyle. “A few years ago all I wanted to do was succeed in fashion,” he reveals on Wednesday’s premiere episode of Out of Character with Krista Smith on USA (airing at 11 p.m. EST). “I didn’t think my work would be in the museum,” he says of the inaugural gown he designed for Michelle Obama , which currently lives at the Smithsonian . The star once again turned to Stella McCartney on Sunday, wearing a red-and-black version of the designer’s “miracle” dress (also known as the “Octavia,” $1595) to the Carnage premiere in Paris. The stretch cotton sheath is so nicknamed because its black side panels seriously flatter the figure. Winslet has always been a fan of McCartney’s designs, wearing a sexy cut-out LBD to the Mildred Pierce premiere in March. But considering we rarely see her repeating dresses, it was surprising to see her in another of McCartney’s “miracle” dresses after wearing the original “Octavia” to the Venice Film Festival in September. Liv Tyler and Lala Vazquez are also fans of the sheath, and Penélope Cruz wore a similar style to the Cannes Film Festival in May
Reviews of the film are in , but how about reviews of the wedding dress? So far, not much has been said about the much-anticipated Breaking Dawn wedding gown, but designer Carolina Herrera certainly hopes fans love it. “I worked on that dress for like six months going back and forth,” she told E! on Monday night at the film’s Los Angeles premiere. “I still have all the sketches and everything because it was so special.” Herrera partnered with Twilight author Stephanie Meyer to design the gown, staying true to her description. “I think she did a fantastic job, and I respected what she wanted,” Herrera added to FabSugar at the premiere. The designer met with Kristen Stewart for fittings — “I think she’s fabulous,” she said — and really thought about the otherworldly subject matter as she sketched.
