“Iran pays people to protest against Mubarak,” says Egyptian man in Amman

In a downtown cafe in Amman, Jordan, there is an Egyptian story that is playing out in a very different way than the cheering crowds we see in Tahrir square, Cairo. The young Egyptian men running and working in this cafe are frustrated and concerned about Mubarak being forced out of office. One man is so angry, he will not speak to anyone. Phone calls back home to Egypt end with these men and their parents in tears about Mubarak’s departure. Watching the televisions that cover every wall in the cafe, the Egyptian crowds rejoice. Looking up from my coffee, my very likable server is crushed
