I have followed Gaston Elso through six polling stations on his journey to vote. His name appears on none of the lists that show who is eligible to vote: the voter rolls. Mr. Elso holds a voter registration card as well as a license from the CEP that allows him to drive, today, yet he is struggling to find a way to vote. According to Mr.

Photo of trekking to a small village hidden behind rice fields that live along the infected river supply. It’s a mile in from the main road, and especially hard to get to due to the flooding. We went to fix their water filtration system. Walking through 3 feet high water with 100 lbs of equipment, to give pure water to hundreds was worth it all.

Leaving the hospital, we would embark on the same journey as the soon-to-be-released patients. The difference is we had already seen the horror that awaits them back in the capital city. As we departed Port au Prince, from the air we were able to gain a much better appreciation for the extent of the destruction. Entire sections of the city that was once home to a million and a half people are now abandoned as ghost towns. The now familiar blue of the tarps dot the landscape for as far as the eye can see and pile after pile of rubble recall where homes used to stand. What will happen to all of these people once the rainy season begins? Flying over Léogâne, we witnessed an entire city leveled; Léogâne once stood near the epicenter of the quake. We flew over the fault line of the earthquake: the shaking emanated from the Bay and followed the river bed, jolting the sides of the mountains and causing landslides as if the mountains were sand. This is where it all started, in twenty seconds changing life forever in a country that was already broken.

A Haiti Relief Fundraiser was held at Bikram Yoga Headquarters in Los Angeles California. People turned out from all over to show their support. There was well over 100 people present at this special Bikram yoga class, taught by Rajashree Choudhury. At over 105 degrees thats one hot practice! The proceeds, 100%, will go to the children of Haiti… Rajashree will see to that. Rajashree Choudhury is a spirited, kind and compassionate woman. Her beauty runs deep. Rajashree’s love for children keeps her involved in many programs. She recently worked for over 5 years with children who had cancer. Rajashree is married to Bikram Choudhury, founder of Bikram Yoga. Bikram and Rajashree have been involved in helping people change their lives for many, many years. Both Bikram and Rajashree were deeply affected when hearing about the earthquake in Haiti. They knew they needed to be involved and felt like a Yoga Relief Fundraiser would be a good way to start.
