Highlands Ranch, Co. – Highlands Ranch, Co., a southern suburb of Denver, is reeling from a current snowfall accumulation of up to 17 inches. The snow continues to fall at around an inch or so an hour. Residents say main roads are quite slippery and residential streets are in deplorable condition. “All the roads are slippery,” Jimmy Taylor said, “I have been transporting hospital personel [who could not leave their homes].” In Douglas County, the county Highlands Ranch sits, schools have been closed for business yesterday and today; residents still believe tomorrow is uncertain even though it should yeild 40 degree temperatures. According to local NBC affiliate 9NEWS, snowfall will continue throughout the day and eventually the heavier snow will shift east of Interstate 25. Wind gusts in upwards of 30 mph will create blowing and drifting snow.
