Landov The Cannes Film Festival has only just begun, and already, Eva Longoria is making a very fashionable impression in her designer gowns. But looking so good isn’t always easy. On Wednesday, Longoria walked the red carpet in a dreamy Marchesa gown (below), but the dress’s heft and lengthy train gave her a tiny bit of trouble as she moved along

Nina Dobrev and Carmeron Diaz both looked stunning at Monday night’s Met Gala — but there’s a lot of difficulty involved in looking so good. “It was so form fitted and made of vintage gold metal, and so tight.

John Angelillo/Landov Model Coco Rocha earned high marks for her gutsy outfit at Monday’s Met Gala — a sleek Givenchy pantsuit once worn by Elizabeth Taylor — and had a blast at the Ball! Rocha shared her personal photos with PEOPLE, telling us all about the experience the morning after. Here are some highlights of her big night out, in her words: Getting ready for the Met Gala was a team effort. At one point we had 12 people in the apartment! Kevin Mazur/WireImage What can steal a spotlight from Mary-Kate Olsen , Kanye West and Tim Tebow ? Tom Brady ‘s hair. The football star debuted yet another different do at Monday night’s Met Gala in New York, a freshly slicked semi faux hawk that slanted to the right. At last year’s Gala, Brady was still working his extra-long locks — and his wife, Gisele Bündchen , was happy with the look.

Courtesy Interview Magazine When asked if she’s into fashion, Helena Bonham Carter simply replies, “All I’m into is dressing up .” That could be an understatement; the actress often wears polarizing ensembles — and is quite aware of the negative attention such outfits attract. Speaking to Daniel Radcliffe in the latest issue of Interview , the Dark Shadows star says clothing often changes how she feels. “I think I transform into somebody else,” she explains, “and then you see the photo and go, ‘That’s so not what I meant …’ It’s the disappointment after

Tony DiMaio/Startraks It’s no secret that Shailene Woodley prefers comfort to couture (she did wear running shoes to a Golden Globes afterparty ), but in the latest issue of ASOS magazine , she really hammers the fact home. “My style … consists of sweats, sweats and sweats,” she shares. “Big baggy jeans — specifically jeans that you find in thrift stores that are obviously not made for women — those are the best because they’re super-comfy. And I love baggy sweaters, too.” Her fashion favorites are a far cry from the dresses she wore on the red carpet this awards season.

Michael Buckner/Getty Gwyneth Paltrow ‘s caped white Oscars dress was certainly a fashion risk , but the actress wouldn’t have had it any other way. In the latest issue of her GOOP newsletter , the star chats with her stylist, Elizabeth Saltzman, about picking the gown and getting ready for the big event. “This dress screamed OSCARS to me,” Saltzman says. “It simply was ‘the one.’ The dress was composed of all the elements that I look out for for Gwyneth: supreme elegance, grace, royalty, extreme modern luxury, simplicity without lacking intense skill and risk. It had a positive edginess to it as well.” In the interview, Saltzman discusses the process of fittings — “If I’m lucky, I get a second fitting in,” she adds — and says the client “always” comes before the gown. “You have to think about the person, their body, their confidence, their coloring, their wishes, their needs and what will be successful for them,” she continues.

Jim Smeal/BEImages When Busy Philipps joins bestie Michelle Williams at awards shows, she’s faced with a bit of a fashion dilemma. “You don’t want to clash,” the Cougar Town star tells the Wall Street Journal . “You know that you’re going together, that probably there will be a couple pictures together, so you don’t want to clash.” At the same time, she needs to stay subtle, too. “I’ve always tried to keep in mind that it’s really [Williams's] day,” Philipps continues. “Even though I’m an actress as well and I want to look pretty and I know I’m going to be photographed, I don’t want to show up wearing a real tight, hot pink corseted number or something that’s going to draw attention from my best friend on her special day.” To strike a balance, Philipps always coordinates with Williams — and tones down what she calls her “fairly eclectic” style.

FilmMagic; WireImage “I can sum up this red carpet season in one descriptive word: translucency.” Such is the beauty wisdom from celebrity makeup artist Bruce Grayson, who creates amazing looks for everyone from Katie Holmes to Hayden Panettiere . Grayson, who will be backstage doing makeup at Sunday’s Academy Awards , expects to see lots of natural beauty come Oscar night, based on the looks he’s seen at the Golden Globes and SAG Awards. “It’s very much a makeup-down year, but not unpolished,” he tells PEOPLE. “It will just look like it hasn’t been done.” Because of that, Grayson doesn’t expect to see many smoky eyes and red lips, but instead sheer eye shadow colors and semi-matte lip colors. “There’s this new move away from glosses to hybrids that are half lipstick, half gloss,” he explains. “There’s more lusciousness in terms of texture, but also that major pigmentation.” When working with his clients, Grayson starts with a well-moisturized face

Danny Moloshok/Landov (2); Frazer Harrison/Getty We admit we were drooling over Elle MacPherson last night — that body! that hair! — but some other ladies on the Golden Globes red carpet also had us doing double takes. Octavia Spencer, Melissa McCarthy and Amber Riely all swathed their curves in gorgeous designer gowns, highlighting their best features and leaving us with a case of fashion envy. Spencer — who nabbed a best supporting actress award and gave another moving acceptance speech — looked lovely in a lavender Tadashi Shoji V-neck cap-sleeve gown with jewel detail. The Help star was still searching for a Globes gown last week, but definitely found a winner. Meanwhile, funnygirl McCarthy opted against a design from her own label , and instead chose a long-sleeved V-neck emerald gown by Badgley Mischka, sticking with several of the night’s big trends. Glee ‘s Riley selected a dress by the esteemed design duo, too, rocking the red carpet in a strapless fire-engine dress

Jason Merritt/Getty (2); Carlos Diaz/INF Leave it to celebrities to make an old trend new again. Headbands — once the preferred accessory of third-graders everywhere — made a triumphant return to the red carpet last night on actresses Michelle Williams , Charlize Theron and Busy Philipps. Williams kept her blonde pixie under wraps in a vintage Fred Leighton for Forevermark headband , while Theron accentuated her soft do with a vintage Cartier band. Meanwhile, Cougartown ‘s Busy Philipps put her own twist on the trend, using a simple platinum band to keep her updo in place. We’re loving the return of headbands, but want to know what you think. Tell us: Are you a fan of the trend?

Splash News Online; Startraks (2); FilmMagic When Prabal Gurung set out to make beautiful, well-made clothes seven seasons ago, he never imagined he’d garner attention from the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker and Amanda Seyfried . “There are so many options out there, and for [SJP] to choose mine, it’s incredible,” he told InStyle.com at a celebration of the New York Times ‘s “50 Photographs” collection in Manhattan on Wednesday. And while early Prabal adopters included Zoe Saldana and Demi Moore , it’s Hollywood’s continued support that leaves the designer humbled. “I really feel grateful and amazed,” he gushed. “I hope that in 20 or 30 years, I still feel as excited about it. Not just [Parker], but with any girl who chooses my clothes.” As for Amanda Seyfried, the ‘It’ girl became a convert after seeing the designer’s spring 2012 collection during New York Fashion Week — even plucking a look off the runway for the L.A.

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic; Amanda Schwab/Startraks When Jennifer Aniston showed up to Monday night’s New York premiere of Five , we assumed the Dolce & Gabbana pantsuit she wore to January’s People’s Choice Awards had been repurposed. However, upon closer inspection, the megastar, who once said she would wear a bathing suit “for as many years as the strings still tie,” was wearing a very similar – but slightly different! — vest ensemble. Nearly imperceptible differences in the Dolce suits include tailored darts, nominally different pockets, covered buttons and oh yeah, a peek-a-boo corset.

Justin Stephens/FOX; Jordan Strauss/WireImage We’re already pretty jealous of Fringe star Anna Torv, namely because she works alongside the dreamy Joshua Jackson on her hit FOX show. But thanks to stellar stylists and a love of fashion, the Aussie starlet also slips effortlessly between her character’s tough style, her easy everyday wear and girly red-carpet gowns. “On the show, as Olivia, I wear a uniform — primarily a suit, jacket and boots,” she tells PEOPLE. “Anytime I can slip into my own clothes, it’s such a treat, as I prefer going casual whenever possible.” But bigger deals, like Sunday’s Emmy Awards, are the days she looks forward to most. “An opportunity to go glam, with a high-fashion dress, hair and makeup?” she asks.
